Why organisations are moving to SoGEA
From December 2025, how your voice and data services are carried will change forever, with Openreach terminating its traditional copper-based services. Already, many BT exchanges are no longer open to new PSTN (public switched telephone network) or ISDN (integrated services digital networks) orders.
Fast fibre is not just the future – for many organisations, it’s the present. As voice over internet protocol (VoIP) solutions increase in popularity, many are already looking to move away from traditional phone lines. A data connection and VoIP plan is all that’s needed for fast and reliable unified communications.
For those looking for a business broadband service that delivers today and is ready for the changes that are coming, SoGEA is the simplest and most cost-effective solution.
No more landline: how SoGEA works
To get broadband access, organisations have always needed to have an ISDN phone line installed and an ADSL (asymmetric digital subscriber line) or fibre broadband service provisioned over the top. With SoGEA, that’s no longer the case.
A single line – ‘single order’ – is all that’s required for you to get online. SoGEA uses a combination of fibre and copper, based on existing FTTC (fibre to the cabinet) technology. BT Openreach now delivers a single-order version of fibre broadband and GFast fibre broadband.
At Content+Cloud we offer SoGEA services and solutions that will help you make the move to futureproof business broadband, as well as expert consultancy on any additional voice services you need. You’ll soon be taking advantage of the immediate benefits SoGEA has to offer.
Moving to SoGEA broadband is a cost-effective way to access Ethernet services. Run over one line, broadband via SoGEA is approximately 30% cheaper than FTTC, according to BT.
‘Single order’ means goodbye to ordering two services – one for phone and one for Ethernet. And as it’s only one provider, there’s only one place you need to go when you need support.
Fast and reliable
SoGEA provides download speeds of 80Mbs – the same data rates as FTTC and the same geographic availability. And as there’s no traditional phone line, there’s less chance of interference.
